Inserting a link to an Office 2007 File
Inserting a link to an Office 2007 File
Solution
High Impact eMail allows you to insert a link to an Office file (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), automatically uploading and referencing the file for you. However, for users of Office 2007, uploading files of the new type (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx) will lead to download issues for your recipients. Any recipient using Internet Explorer as his/her default browser (i.e. most users) will notice that the file has been changed to a .zip file type. This issue occurs only in Internet Explorer, and while the file is still intact after download, the incorrect type means your recipients won't be able to open the file correctly.
To work around this issue, convert any file of the Office 2007 type (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx) to an Office 97-2003 file type (.doc, .xls, .ppt). This will prevent the issue from occurring, and your recipients will be able to download the file and open it without any problems.
