7 Resources You Can’t Live Without:
Practical real life marketing advice from experts

There are two nagging problems I have with a lot of self-proclaimed experts that give advice out left and right. 1) They tell you what you're doing wrong but they don't show you how to do it right. 2) They say the same thing that the other self-proclaimed experts say.

But then there are some "experts" who are EXPERTS. They know what they're talking about and their advice actually works! If you're anything like we are, you get bombarded by information every day. We know how tough it is to filter the quality from the questionable. With that in mind, we bring you some trusted resources for the small office/home office business person.

Closing the Sale Resources

Psychotactics.com
by Sean D’Souza

Sean D’Souza makes me paranoid. He is a master of the consumer mind. Every word he writes, I wonder “Is he trying to manipulate my mind?” “What does he want me to think?” Sean is all about the psychology of marketing. His advice is extremely compelling and makes intensive, mind-splitting points that make you crave his articles. Check out Sean's website.

The Power of Saying ‘You Can’
by Nick Usborne

All I have to say about this article is this: It makes sense. It’s easy to do. And it works. Check out Nick's website too.

Small Business Resources

Business Know How
by Janet Attard

Subscribe to her newsletter. You’ll be glad you did it. Business Know How covers a large range of topics that are very helpful for Small Businesses. What I like about the articles is that it doesn’t speak down to you, but it doesn’t assume you know everything either. Just solid advice with a real small business mind set. Subscribe here.

The Art of Self Promotion
by Ilise Benun

Here is an invaluable book that offers information and easy-to-use marketing tools for small business owners, consultants and freelancers. Subscribe to her newsletter if you want to get more simple, useful tips that will help you garner new business.

Marketing & Copywriting Resources

Bob Bly
Copywriter

If you hire Bob Bly for copywriting help, you are in for a treat. If you don't, you can still get free tips at his site. I have met him at a number of conferences and his tips and techniques are terrific.

MarketingProfs.com
by Anne Handley

Cutting edge marketing concepts and strategies for Internet businesses delivered in articles and commentaries. This site features analysts, marketing professionals and professors who cut through the hype and help you improve your business practices. See an example of a recent MarketingProfs newsletter

WordBiz Report
by Debbie Weil

Don't you sometimes get the idea that an "expert's" advice is just a bit stale? Not so with the WordBiz Report. Debbie's articles are savvy and practical. She's up-to-date so she'll keep you current with the latest e-marketing tips and tricks. Subscribe to Debbie's newsletter.

Perfect Image Cropping: Manipulate your socket for different size images

What if you want your image to be long and thin? Wide and short? Or just a square? You can resize your photo socket in High Impact eMail 3.0 and the photo editor will crop your image to that exact size.

Here's how you do it:

1. Click once on the socket you would like to manipulate. Little white squares will appear around the socket.

2. Hover over the bottom right square until a double-sided arrow appears. Click and drag to size the socket to how you want it.

3. Your photo socket will look distorted, but don't worry about it. Double-click on the photo-socket and choose "My Computer."

Find the picture you want to use and click Next

4. In the photo editor, click on the crop button. The crop tool will appear in the exact size of the resized photo socket. To adjust the cropping, click and drag the red square. Click Apply.

5. Upload your image to ReadyShare.

When you're all through with the workflow, your image will be perfectly cropped, sized into the email - just like this panoramic banner:

Ask the ZONE Expert

Q: I use both Microsoft Outlook and ACT! Can I use High Impact eMail 3.0 for both email clients?

A: Yes - there is a setting in My Preferences that will allow you to switch from Microsoft Outlook, ACT! as well as Outlook Express.

Simply click on My Preferences and click on the Email Client tab. From here, you can choose your client and click okay.

If you want to set a default stationery on the various email clients, you simply need to have your email client be on the correct program before setting your stationery.
