High Impact eMail 3.0 Frequently Asked Questions

Understanding HTML email

What is HTML email?

HTML email is graphical email made possible with HTML (Hyer Text Markup Language) coding. HTML is the basic language of the web. Most pages on the web is coded using HTML. All graphical email is done through HTML.

What is ReadyShare and why do I need to upload images to the web?

In order to view HTML email correctly, all the images you use in your emails need to be on the web. If you inserted an image into an HTML email directly from your hard drive, you are telling the HTML that the image is located on your computer. Your recipients cannot access your computer, but they can access the web. All images on websites are on the web.

But since not everyone has space on the web to put their images, we provide 250 KB of free web space called ReadyShare. ReadyShare will also simplify uploading and referencing your images.

Getting Started

What about Non-HTML programs?

Occasionally, you may find that someone's email program displays the HTML source code. Fortunately, this represents only a small (and ever shrinking) percentage of email programs.

Please ensure that you copy the image to a drive on your hard disk so as to enable High Impact eMail to access it. The Profile feature will help you resize your logo to an appropriate size.

How do I prepare a picture for my portrait?

To prepare a picture for your portrait you will need to have your picture taken with a digital camera or you could scan any hardcopy photo with the help of a scanner connected to your computer and save the image in the preferred picture JPG format. Please ensure that you copy the image to a drive on your hard disk so as to enable High Impact eMail to access it. The Profile feature will help you resize your portrait to an appropriate size.

Using The Signature Feature

How can I create a signature image?

On a plain, white piece of paper, sign your name with a thick pen or marker. Scan the signature and save it preferably as a JPG. The Profile feature will help you resize your signature to an appropriate size.

Working with Images

What is the difference between inserting an image by double-clicking on the photo socket and clicking the "Insert Image" icon from the toolbar?

When you double-click on a photo-socket, High Impact eMail remembers the dimension of your photo-socket. This allows you to crop and resize the image to the dimensions or ratio of the socket.

If you insert an image using the Insert Image icon from the toolbar - no dimensions are recorded. The photo editor will simply insert the image "as is."

I double-clicked on a photo-socket to insert a picture, but when my image was inserted, it is much smaller that my photo-socket. Why did it not resize to the photo-socket?

If your picture was originally smaller than the photo-socket, the photo-editor will not resize the image to a larger size. This is because when you resize an image from a smaller size to a bigger size, the image becomes pixelated or fuzzy. To prevent this, the photo-editor will not resize the image to a larger size.

What is the difference between a referenced image and an embedded image?

What is a referenced image?

A referenced image is an image pulled from the URL or Internet location of the image in an HTML document. When the message is received, the HTML gathers any images using the URLs of the images and then the images are displayed in the email. (All of this happens in less than a second!) As a result, an email message with referenced images has a significantly reduced message size and higher compatibility with email clients.

Referencing an image is simply the correct way of sending HTML email.

What is an embedded image?

An embedded image is integrated within the email message. An email message with embedded images has a significantly larger message size as compared to an email message with referenced images. Not all email clients can read emails with embedded images.

How do I insert a referenced image in an email message?

To insert a ReadyShare image in a new mail, follow the instructions below:

  1. Double-click the photo socket on the DHTML Editor screen.
  2. Select the image source.
  3. Edit the image if required.
  4. Upload it to your ReadyShare account.
  5. Once the image is uploaded to ReadyShare, clicking Next will insert the image in your email.

Now, the image will be referenced from the web. The socket will display the inserted ReadyShare image if you are connected to the Internet.

Note: To copy the URL of a ReadyShare image, follow the given instructions:

  1. Select the ReadyShare | Manage ReadyShare menu option from the Main Screen.

  2. Right-click the image whose URL is to be copied, and select "Get URL" option from the context menu. The image gets copied to your clipboard. You can then paste this URL any place you wish on your email.

Important: Ensure that the Send pictures from the Internet with messages option has been disabled in your mail client. If this option is enabled, images in the email you create are embedded in the email instead of being referenced from the Internet. For more information, click here.

I am not able to view the image files with the extension "*.tif" and "*.tiff" in the Thumbnail view. All I can see is an image placeholder as shown in the image below. Why does this happen?

You can view images in the thumbnail mode with the extensions "*.jpg," "*.gif," "*.bmp," and "*.png". Tiff and Tif images cannot be rendered and thus you see a static thumbnail in case of "*.tif" and "*.tiff" images.

When I try to use an animated ".gif" file or a transparent ".gif" file, the Photo Editor screen does not show the animation or the transparency of the image. Why does this happen?

Due to certain limitations of the application, the Photo Editor screen does not show the animation or the transparency of the image.

However, you can edit animated or transparent ".gif" files. But there is data loss and it is not possible to view the animation or transparency of such ".gif" files.

  5. Click OK to save the settings.

I am not able to login to my ReadyShare account despite of being sure that I am entering the correct username and password. What could the problem be?

A dialog box, as shown below, will appear if High Impact eMail encounters a problem connecting to the server.

Please check the following: You should be connected to the Internet, there shouldn't be very heavy traffic on the network, and if your machine is behind a firewall, the firewall should allow HTTP connections for GET, PUT, and POST.

How do I upload files to ReadyShare?

  3. Select a file to be uploaded and click Next.
  4. Edit the image on the Photo Editor screen if required. Click Next.
  5. Select a destination folder to place your image and click Next.

Once the image is successfully uploaded to ReadyShare, you see the following message box:

How do I manage files and folders using ReadyShare?

See ReadyShare Manager - File Management.

See ReadyShare Manager - Folder Management.

Can I connect to ReadyShare if my machine is behind a firewall?

Yes, you can connect to ReadyShare if the firewall allows HTTP connections for GET, PUT, and POST.

Creating New Mails

Can I use High Impact eMail when Word is set as my default email editor?

High Impact eMail does not support Word as the default email editor.

It is recommended that, when using High Impact eMail, the message format should be set as HTML.

When I select a template in High Impact eMail and create a new mail, I can't view the images. Why does this happen?

If you don't see the images, it means one of the two things:

  • You are not connected to the Internet
  • The web site where the images are stored may be facing some problem.

When you preview the template in the template browser of High Impact eMail, the images are referenced from your hard disk, which were copied there during the installation process. However, when you launch the template in Outlook or Outlook Express, the images are automatically referenced from the web site where they have been placed by KMT. All images in High Impact eMail are referenced from this server to keep the size of the email as minimal as possible and provide the utmost degree of compatibility.

Why does High Impact eMail seem to pause when I create a new mail using Outlook Express?

In the process of sending mail through Microsoft Outlook Express, the create new mail controls will not allow you to return to High Impact eMail application until the mail is sent or the new mail window is closed.

Why do I get a "Login error" when creating mails through Outlook Express?

This can happen when you have an invalid mail account. Contact your administrator for help.

Why does my modem dialout when I create new mail or when the recipient views the mail?

A new mail created from High Impact eMail contains images that are referenced from the web. A valid Internet connection is required to view the images during new mail creation and at the recipient's end. To ensure that your modem does not dial out during new mail creation or when the recipient is viewing the mail, follow these instructions:

  • Open Internet Explorer, select the Tools | Internet Options menu option.
  • Click on the Connection tab and click on "Never dial a connection".

When I try to create a new mail using High Impact eMail, the application performs an illegal operation and shuts down. Why does this happen?

When you create a new mail with High Impact eMail and attempt to send it from a Microsoft Office program such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Internet Explorer, or any program that supports the Simple Messaging Applications Program Interface (MAPI) transport, it may give you the following error message:

"This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor".

This message will come up if you have Microsoft Outlook's Personal Folders Backup Utility feature installed in your Outlook and you attempted to create a new mail with High Impact eMail without running Outlook.

To avoid seeing this message, create new mails with High Impact eMail only after starting Outlook or uninstall the Microsoft Outlook Personal Folders Backup utility. To uninstall Microsoft Outlook Personal Folders Backup utility, do the following:

  • Start Outlook.
  • On the Tools menu, click Options.
  • On the Other tab, click Advanced Options.
  • Click COM Add-Ins.
  • Clear the Outlook Backup Add-in check box.
  • Click OK three times to close the Options.
  • Click Exit on the File menu.

Uninstalling Microsoft Outlook's Personal Folders Backup utility will enable High Impact eMail to create new mail irrespective of whether Microsoft Outlook is running or not.

When I use the tab key from the subject line to start my message, the cursor is not placed in the appropriate position in the message design. How do I get it right?

It is suggested that you click the mouse cursor where [Message Text] appears and then type in your message.

In my Outlook message composition, the font will sometimes change back to the system default font. How can I avoid this?

To avoid losing the formatting make sure you click inside a text area and then start typing your message. Outlook is not the most optimal editor for HTML purposes. It is for this reason that the High Impact eMail templates provide you with such a great head start.

When I use Outlook Express with High Impact eMail, all the emails created have a blank line at the top. What can I do to resolve this?

When Outlook Express creates a new email using a High Impact eMail template, it automatically inserts a blank line at the top of the email. Depending on the template design, this blank line may appear intrusive if the template uses an image as a background. If the template uses a background color, the new line inserted merges with the template design.

Most of the Simple Background templates display a blank line at the top of the email (screenshot shown below). Currently, there is no fix to address this problem.

On clicking any one of the Apply Default Stationery, Apply Different Template, or Insert Image buttons on the Outlook toolbar, or "Send" button on the compose window (Outlook XP SP3) I get a dialog box as shown below. Why does this happen?

This is a security feature of Microsoft Outlook. There is no harm and you can proceed by clicking the Yes button.

Lotus cc: Mail
Lotus Notes 4.6, 5.x
Microsoft Outlook 97
Microsoft Outlook 98 and higher
Microsoft Outlook Express

Yahoo Mail

What does the "[Message Text]" area indicate in the template?

The [Message Text] indicates where you are expected to enter your message. So you can simply overtype this text, or highlight and delete it.

What is the typical size of emails sent with High Impact eMail?

Messages sent with High Impact eMail are small in size. They range from 3K to 20K in size for most messages, since most of the images are referenced via the Internet.

Where are the images in a High Impact eMail stored? Are they part of the message?

The images in the email message are not attached to the emails, but are referenced from the KMT server. The recipient needs to be online to view High Impact eMail messages in their entirety.

What is actually sent from my computer to the recipient's computer?

Just the message text and the template format is sent from your computer along with appropriate references to the images in the templates.

Can I send a message to multiple recipients easily and quickly?

Yes, you can send messages to multiple recipients. High Impact eMail makes use of all the features provided by Outlook and Outlook Express in sending mails. And since the size of the email is small, your transmission time will be quick.

If a user lets you know that they can view the text part of your message, but not the graphics, what is the problem?

There are three possibilities: the user might not be online, the KMT server may be temporarily down, or the recipient does not have an HTML mail client. You should always keep in mind that every message you send with High Impact eMail will be transmitted accurately. All users will at least receive the text portion of the email and over 90% of the current users will receive the message and graphics in the same format as you sent it. There are a few circumstances where the graphics that comprise your stationery will not appear. The graphics themselves may be stripped away when the message recipient is using an older version of AOL, or has their incoming email screened by certain types of corporate firewalls. In any case, your text message (what you wrote) will arrive intact.

The images in the email I create are sent as attachments and are embedded in the email instead of being referenced from the Internet. Why is this happening and how do I resolve this problem?

When images are embedded in an email and are sent as attachments, the file size of the email is remarkably increased. Thus, you must ensure that images in your email are referenced from the Internet and are not embedded in your email message.

When the Send pictures from the Internet with messages option has been enabled in your mail client, images in the email you create are sent as attachments and are embedded in the email instead of being referenced from the Internet.

To resolve this problem, follow the given instructions:

Outlook 98/2000

  1. Select the Tools | Options menu option from the main menu.
  2. Click on the Mail Format tab.
  3. Click on the Settings button.
  4. Ensure that the Send pictures from the Internet with messages check box is cleared.

Outlook XP, Outlook 2003

  1. Select the Tools | Options menu option from the main menu.
  2. Click on the Mail Format tab.
  3. Click on the Internet Format button on the Message format section.
  4. Ensure that the When an HTML message contains pictures located on the Internet, send a copy of the pictures instead of the reference to their location check box is cleared.

Outlook Express

  1. Select the Tools | Options menu option from the main menu.
  2. Click on the Send tab.
  3. Click on the HTML Settings button on the Mail Sending format section.
  4. Ensure that the Send pictures with messages check box is cleared.

Sometimes my High Impact eMail stationery doesn't display when users reply to my original message. Why not, and did they see my stationery correctly when they initially received my message?

When replying to a message (or forwarding one), there are several common email programs such as Yahoo, Hotmail, and AOL which will remove the HTML code that displays your stationery. The same result can occur when someone replies with Outlook or Outlook Express, and they have set their configuration to a TEXT ONLY mode. On the other hand, you should rest assured that your message was received correctly (although without the stationery).

Why do some email messages appear blank in the Outbox/Sent Items folder? Does this mean that the message has no text or graphics?

You will notice the above behavior only with Outlook XP. When you select a High Impact eMail template and try to send an email without editing it, i.e. adding no additional text to the email body, the email will appear blank in your Outbox/Sent Items folder but will be sent to the recipient correctly. Please note that recipient will receive the email correctly and will be able to view the text and graphics.

When I send a High Impact email using the ACT! email client, all the images, and html is stripped from my message. The recipient can only view the unformatted text. Why?

This problem might occur if your Outlook has not been configured correctly. This problem is a documented ACT! limitation. To overcome this, follow the instructions given below to configure Outlook correctly. You will need the Microsoft Outlook 2000 installation CD in order to continue.

  • Exit all programs except Microsoft Outlook

  • Select the Tools | Options menu option

  • Click on the the Mail Services or Mail Delivery tab

  • Click Reconfigure Mail Support

  • Click Corporate or Workgroup

  • Click Next, and follow the instructions in the Outlook wizard

  • After Outlook closes, be sure that all other applications are also closed before restarting your computer. When Windows restarts, it will ask for your Office or Outlook installation CD

  • After Outlook is reconfigured to Corporate or Workgroup, open ACT! and set your email program to MS Outlook. For more information on how to do this, please read the ACT! User's Guide

When I open an email in AOL, which was sent using High Impact eMail, I am not able to view the images contained in the email.

This could happen in case you are not connected to the Internet. Check the Internet connection and then try viewing the email. If this option does not work, log off from AOL and log in again.

When I send a Mail Merge email along with a file attached to it using Outlook Express, the recepient receives the template too as an attachment. Why does this happen?

This is a limitation.

Templates

Where are the templates stored in High Impact eMail?

The High Impact eMail setup program installs the templates in a separate folder named Templates within the High Impact eMail application folder created during the installation process. By default, the templates are copied to C:\Program Files\KMT Software\High Impact eMail\Templates.

Can I use Templates from High Impact eMail version 2.0 with version 3.0?

Yes, you will receive a pack with all of your version 2.0 templates with your upgrade.

While I try to resize the application, the application flickers. Also, I am not able to resize the application on the select image and ReadyShare screen after clicking the Thumbnails button.

While trying to resize the pane, High Impact eMail 3.0 needs to recreate the page. This also happens when you try to resize in the Thumbnails view. The page is recreated with the thumbnails in it to match the new size. This is an Internet intensive operation, so it appears as if no resizing is happening.

Right click on the Desktop and select Properties. On the Display Properties dialog box, select the Effects tab. Check if the "Show window contents while dragging" check box is checked. If this option is checked, you will not be able to resize the application in the Thumbnail view.

Creating Your Own Templates

Can I modify a High Impact eMail template so that I can use that modified template the next time I load it?

Yes, you can modify an existing High Impact template and save it for later use.
To modify any given template, select a template, edit it on the Email Template Editor, click Save As..., and type in the new name. The saved template will be stored in "My High Impact eMails" folder.

Will I be able to preview the template that I saved under a new name?

Yes, you can preview the template that you saved under a new name.

How can I view the HTML source for each of the templates?

To view the HTML source of a template select the template, click on the right mouse button, select View Source in the Email Template Editor. Or right-click on a template in the template browser and go to View Source.

How can I convert my HTML documents into templates?

Simply save the HTML file with an *.htm extension into: My Documents\High Impact eMail 3.0\My High Impact eMails

Your email template can now be found in the My High Impact eMails folder in the High Impact eMail 3.0 browser.

Now that you have created a template for use with High Impact eMail, you can even add images to the template; simply use a complete http:// reference to each image. All standard HTML image formats are supported.

How do I specify which editor will be opened when I want to edit a High Impact eMail template?

To specify an editor for editing a template select the Tools | My Preferences menu option from the High Impact eMail Main Screen and make the necessary changes in the Helper Application section on the General tab.

Finding Templates

There are several templates that I use regularly - is there a way to store these templates in a folder for quick reference?

Yes, a Favorites folder has been provided by High Impact eMail to store templates that you use regularly. To add a template to the Favorites folder, select a template, right-click it, and select Add to Favorites from the context menu. Once you have added a copy of the selected template to your Favorites folder, the template will be available from both the Favorites folder and the folder where it was originally stored.

Are the files in the Favorites folder actually moved to this folder or just referenced?

The templates that have been added to My Favorites folder are just referenced. This is done to save on hard disk space.

I am a beta tester. I uninstalled the beta version and installed a new build of the application. Now, I am not able to view my emails stored in "My High Impact eMails" folder.

The folder structure has been changed for the latest build. The previous folder structure where your emails were stored was "My Documents\My High Impact eMails." The new folder structure is "My Documents\High Impact eMail 3.0\My High Impact eMails." You will therefore have to copy all your emails manually from the old folder to the new one.

Printing Templates

I have no problems printing any of the High Impact eMail templates. Why do some recipients have problems with messages that contain background colors and images?

When High Impact eMail is installed, the setup program makes sure that a print setting is correctly set in IE. This setting ensures that "Print background colors and images" has been enabled in your Internet Explorer browser. To verify whether this option has been enabled, select the Tools | Internet Options menu option, and click on the Advanced tab. You will find this option under Printing. Make sure that it is enabled and that your friends have also enabled this setting.

Why does the template get printed out of paper when I try to print some of the High Impact eMail Advertising templates? What should I do to rectify this problem?

By default, Internet Explorer's page margins are set to .75" for the top, left, right, and bottom margins. This setting affects the page margins when printing in Microsoft Outlook/Outlook Express as well.

These default margin values set in Internet Explorer are too wide for some of High Impact eMail's Advertising templates. It makes some of High Impact eMail's Advertising templates print out of paper since with these default margin settings, the printable width is made too small. Follow these instructions to rectify this problem:

  1. Launch Microsoft Internet Explorer.
  2. Select the File | Page Setup menu option.
  3. In the Margins group box, change the left, right, top, and bottom margins to be 0.5".
  4. Click OK.

Template Packs

What are template packs?

You need to download the Template Packs first. Then, you can install them by double-clicking on the .exe file. The Template Pack will be automatically added to High Impact eMail. As soon as you download the Template Packs, you are ready to use them.

Can I uninstall High Impact eMail, and leave the installed Template Packs on my machine?

Yes, when you uninstall the High Impact eMail product, the setup asks you whether you would like to keep the Template Packs or delete them. Select the appropriate option to define what you would like to do with the Template Packs.

When I download Template Packs, I get a Microsoft authentication message. What do I do with it?

The Microsoft authentication message tells you that you have chosen to download a file, identifies the source as KMT Software, and asks you whether you would like to open the file from the source or save it to your disk drive. All Template Packs are digitally signed to ensure the trustworthiness of the content.

How do I uninstall Template Packs?

The High Impact eMail program allows you to uninstall any or all of the Template Packs installed on your machine. To do so, select the Tools | Template Pack Manager menu option. Select the Template Pack you want to uninstall, then click Delete. The option Delete All will remove all Template Packs from your machine.

How do I retain my Template Packs from the previous installation when I reinstall?

Whenever you uninstall High Impact eMail, the setup program will prompt you with the option of retaining the Template Packs or deleting them. If you want to retain the Template Packs simply click Keep when the message box appears.

Using The Import/Export Feature

Can I Import/Export my profile information/ReadyShare login information across various operating systems?

No, you cannot import/export your profile information/ReadyShare login information across different operating systems. That means, when you export these information from a particular operating system, e.g. Windows 2000, you can only import these information to a system that runs on a Windows 2000 operating system.

Email Template Editor

When I try to undo an image insertion, it won't revert back to the previous image in the Email Template Editor.

This is a limitation.

When I try to format bulleted lists / numbered lists using the Email Template Editor, the bullets and numbers do not get formatted.

The Email Template Editor does not support the styling of bullets as well as numbers in numbered lists.

Creating Your Own Stationery

How are High Impact eMail templates different from standard Outlook stationery?

There are several differences between High Impact eMail templates and standard Outlook stationery. Some of them have been listed below:

  • High Impact eMail templates are designed to be compatible with virtually every email client. In contrast, Outlook stationery is primarily compatible with only Outlook clients.
  • Outlook stationery does not use Profile Information fields like High Impact eMail.
  • The images from a High Impact eMail template are not sent along with the email. As a result, the High Impact eMail messages are much smaller and take fewer resources to send to the recipient. The images are downloaded from the web only when the recipient reads the email are the images downloaded from the web.
  • Outlook Stationery is typically very simple in its design. In contrast, High Impact eMail messages are more complete page designs with layout detail and places for users to insert images and their own text.

How do I make one of the High Impact eMail templates my default stationery?

Any one of the templates in the stationery folder can be designated as your default stationery in just a few steps. To make one of the High Impact eMail templates the default stationery, click theMy Stationery icon on the Main Screen. Select a template, select a profile, edit the template, click Next, and selec the "Yes, set this stationery as [your email client] default stationery" radio button. We recommend that you disable your Outlook signature as it will often conflict with the design of the stationery template.

If I change my Profile Information after I make one of the templates my default stationery, why doesn't it update the latest Profile Information?

When you select a template as the default stationery, the values within the template are added to and stored in the Outlook/Outlook Express stationery folder. If the Business Card information is updated later, the changes will not be reflected in the stationery template. To update the default stationery template, you can simply repeat the steps outlined above to add the template to Outlook/Outlook Express again and select it as the default stationery.

Security/Protection against Viruses

Is there a security feature in the product to guard against viruses from infecting the mail messages?

High Impact eMail does have security settings to protect your computer from potentially harmful content. Select the My Preferences icon on the Main Screen and enable the security option. This is the standard setting. Whenever a new mail is created, High Impact eMail scans the template before creating new mail and issues a warning if it detects the possibility of the template having a virus, as shown below:

Is there any script code in High Impact eMail messages?

We have specifically avoided the use of JavaScript, VBScript, and all other scripting technologies, and we use no executable attachments or ActiveX controls in any High Impact eMail template. This is true for all the templates included with the product as well as in KMT Software's Template Packs.

Mail Merge

How can I create a file from scratch for importing into High Impact eMail 3.0 Professional?

You can easily create a CSV file using Microsoft Excel.

Step 1: In the first row, name your fields (first name, last name, email address are required.) In each column, fill in the fields.

Step 2: Go to File | Save As - for "Save As Type" choose Comma Delimited (CSV). You may receive a message in Excel saying that the selected file type does not support workbooks. Simply click OK. You may receive another message saying that the file may not contain features compatible with CSV. Click Yes to finish saving.

Your file is now ready for importing into High Impact eMail 3.0.

On importing a CSV file using Mail Merge, comma separated values appear as separate fields.

A Comma is a special character. It is used as a field separator in a CSV file. To treat it as a field value, make sure the entire CSV file fields and values are in double quotes.

I exported a "*.csv" file from Mail Merge using the Export List button, and opened it in Excel. I noticed that the zeroes preceding the Postal Code were deleted. Was my file not exported properly?

The CSV file is exported correctly with Postal Code having leading zeros. When you view this file in Excel, by default all data is treated as excel type "General" which trims the leading 0's from the postal code. To see the data properly you have to use the Import Tool in Excel and specify that postal code be treated as a string value.

I can see only blank emails in my Sent Items folder. Is my email sent to the intended recipient?

This occurs sometimes while sending email using Mail Merge. Although you may see a blank email in your Sent Items folder, the recipient will get the message in its entirety.

While sending email from a certain application, which uses Outlook as the email client, I see a dialog box as shown below. But, I can't see such a dialog box while sending mails using High Impact eMail 3.0.

For the convenience of the user in sending mails, this dialog box is suppressed.

Privacy Issues

The Privacy of your email is Fully Protected.

KMT Software does not and cannot read any email message you send or receive that has been composed with the High Impact eMail product. Furthermore, we have no way of knowing (and no desire to know) when you are composing a message, when you are reading a message, and who you send messages to, or receive messages from. So your email correspondence remains every bit as private as it has always been.

Programming Technology Used in High Impact eMail is Secure.

High Impact eMail was carefully designed to provide no opportunities for outside access to your computer while using our product. We have specifically avoided the use of JavaScript, VBScript, and all other scripting technologies, and we use no executable attachments or ActiveX controls. Not only does this make High Impact eMail templates secure, it makes your messages compact and minimizes the technology requirements on the recipients' end. No special plug-ins are required — just a standard HTML-capable email client.

Standard Tracking Performed for Legitimate Purposes.

The "log" that we receive from our web servers does enable us to track when, and how many times various images (like a Happy Birthday! banner) are served. Furthermore, these log files do link the image served to a specific IP (Internet Protocol) address. This IP address is NOT your email address. In fact, for most people it is assigned randomly, allowing you to remain completely anonymous. We do not make any attempt to use this IP address to identify you personally, and in any case, would not be able to even if we tried. We cannot tell from our log files whether an image was served to someone composing a message, or to someone reading a message. We cannot determine whether or not a sent email message was ever opened. We cannot link a message sender to a message recipient in any way. The log data we receive is the same as the minimum that is done whenever a web site is visited under any circumstances - even when it is just a visit to a personal "homepage" that someone has put up.
